Having it default to 50 contrast and 50 brightness without any good explanation of how to properly use it as well is really sad. Few people know how to properly adjust for HDR, and seeing as the games without the more technical HDR settings just default to a really high Brightness and Contrast is just bad. Also, in some games for me like WipEout there is no in game HDR video setting to customize the HDR so the HDR detects automatically. In games like God of War and GT Sport (another game with stunning use of HDR) I didn't notice the HDR icon show up automatically but then realized I had to go to the video options to turn it on and then voila, you

For the most part I’ve gotten solid blacks with HDR on my PS4 (TLOU 1 and 2, FFVII, Uncharted 4, Ratchet & Clank, Infamous Second Son and First Light, RE:7, Hitman 2016) I spent like 20 minutes trying to dial in Shadow of the Colossus as good as possible but it’s because of the game’s style not the TV.
